Well yesterday  A.R.R.O.W held a basketball tournament at the center. It was delayed till Sunday because of bad weather on Saturday. The turnout was exceptional considering the change of day.

Iron Man and Heroes

Iron Man.

The screening of the IronMan movie was really fun to watch not only because it was free but also for the action and that fact that it was a superhero movie. When I was watching Iron Man I noticed that Stark had undergone this inner transformation allowing him to have a sudden outlook and broader perspective of the world around him. He realized that he if could do so much damage with his warfare technology then imagine what kind of an impact he could have if he used his technology to help make the world a better place. This sudden shift of characters helps build the hero that he becomes which adds on to his other qualities which would be his machinery and desire for justice, thus completing his transformation. Overall I really enjoyed watching all the action and intense drama. The director of the movie did a really good job of bringing out the hero in Iron Man. Once again great movie!

Heroes?

When one thinks about heroes, we get the universal vision of a person with superpowers, capes or tights but unfortunately we’re a little low on those heroes in our world today. The big screen shows us these strong, upstanding, physically powerful beings that seem to carry the weight of the world on their shoulders without even breaking a sweat. People, in turn, adore superheroes for their powers and larger-than-life characteristics. However what can one really say about a superhero? What really lies behind the suit or cape? What makes a superhero super? The answer is solely displayed in their actions. It is through their display of unwavering zeal for justice that makes the superhero loved by everyone. Even when humanity itself yields to the overwhelming darkness, superheroes or heroes of any caliber are looked to for guidance and protection. They alone seem to overcome any obstacle that comes in their way. They use their gifts to save people and the world them. So the next time someone says “I love that superhero”, ask them why. Heroes of all shapes and sizes should be considered super because of their valor and love for humanity and not solely on their physical characteristics.

Iron Man and Heroes

The Movie Iron Man of 2008 was funny, entertaining, filled with action and tension and an incredibly exciting adventure. Robert Downey Jr. totally brought this movie to the top with his serious/funny/amazing character of Tony Stark who is a billionaire, genius inventor who is kiddnapped and forced to build a weapon, but uses his intellgence to build a strong armor-suit to escape. It is when he gets out that he realizes how much harm his weapons have caused that he turns back on his ways and decides to protect the world as Iron Man.

Iron Man showed that being a true hero is not about people who invent great things or do outstanding taks, but people who take time from their busy lives to help others, never caring whether they receive or not benefit or glory from their actions.

Teen Summit

The Teen Empowerment Summit of March ’08 was simply amazing. Each speaker that attended had so much to offer that kept one focused in every word they spoke. The summit was based on facts and misconceptions of gangs as well as how to live everyday life as a youth or adolescent. It was a night full of entertainment, laughs and interactions with speakers who went through harsh situations but got out of them safe and sound to tell their stories. I was very shocked at stories I heard from the ex-gang members and all that they went through. Also, through laughter, I was taught about every day alternatives and decisions I have to take that I don’t even consider sometimes. It was a fun night worth repeating.

Robotic Reunion

This is a motion picture video edited and created by Cessily Murph, Farzana Chowdhury, and Chereese Douglas. Serge was the computer manager and helped us when we had difficulties. This was both a new and interesting experience because we learned how to make our video more appealing.
